🔴 CLUSTER MUNITION IMPACT IN NORTHERN ISRAEL: One of the ballistic missiles launched by Iran toward the Haifa area carried a cluster bomb warhead, according to footage and initial assessments. Medics and rescue forces are responding to suspected cluster munition impact sites in the area.
Damage was reported to a home in the Haifa suburb of Nesher. Magen David Adom says there are no reports of injuries.
IDF search and rescue forces are operating at an impact site in northern Israel. The public has been asked to avoid gathering in affected areas and to continue following Home Front Command instructions.
🇮🇱🇺🇸 ISRAELI POSITION ON CONTINUING OPERATIONS: An Israeli official told Bloomberg: "We were informed in advance about Trump's post regarding Iran. We don't see an imminent end to the war and we plan to continue operations while avoiding targeting energy facilities".
An Israeli official told the Broadcasting Authority: "It's too early to know if Trump will end the war, and his statements were surprising".
President Trump has asked Israel to refrain from attacking Iranian energy facilities, according to Israeli Radio.
♟️ U.S. MILITARY POSTURE: The Pentagon is considering deploying around 3,000 rapid-response paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division to support potential U.S. operations in Iran, possibly including the seizure of Kharg Island, according to The New York Times.
Marines could be deployed first to secure and repair infrastructure, with airborne forces reinforcing later.
When asked why he was sending Marines to the Middle East, President Trump responded: "If you were in my position and I asked you that question, do you really believe I'd give you an answer? Crazy question".
🔸 U.S.-IRAN CONTACTS AND POSSIBLE TALKS: President Trump said: "The Iranians were the ones who contacted me, and I didn't contact them. Iran wants to reach an agreement at any cost. The agreement will be a long-term and guaranteed peace for Israel".
President Trump also said: "I can't guarantee reaching an agreement with Iran".
An Israeli official told Channel 12 that the senior Iranian figure the U.S. is conducting talks with is Parliament Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf.
A senior Iranian official told Reuters: "Washington requested a meeting with Parliament Speaker Mohammad Ghalibaf on Saturday, but Tehran has not yet responded".
Talks are underway for a possible meeting later this week in Islamabad between U.S. and Iranian officials, including Mohammad Ghalibaf representing Tehran and Witkoff, Kushner, and possibly Vice President Vance representing Washington, according to Axios citing a senior Israeli official.
A senior Israeli security official told Channel 12: "It is not expected that Iran will agree to the current conditions".
