🎯 IDF ELIMINATES HEZBOLLAH OPERATIVES AND DESTROYS SURVEILLANCE POSTS IN SOUTHERN LEBANON AS ISRAEL PREPARES TO EXPAND BUFFER ZONE; ISRAEL-LEBANON TALKS AND RAFAH REOPENING ALSO ANNOUNCED

🎯 Hezbollah operatives eliminated during: IDF operations in southern Lebanon

IDF troops operating in southern Lebanon identified several Hezbollah operatives in their area of operations and directed an airstrike against them, the military says.

Earlier this week, another terrorist cell was identified in the area where IDF troops are operating. After the cell was identified, the terrorists were eliminated in an aerial strike directed by forces on the ground.

❌ Hezbollah surveillance and observation posts struck: Last night, IDF troops identified a surveillance post used by the Hezbollah terrorist organization to monitor Israeli forces in the area.

The post was dismantled in a strike and rendered inoperable. In a separate incident yesterday, troops identified another Hezbollah observation post and directed an airstrike against it.

🪖 Israel preparing to deepen forward defense posture in southern Lebanon: The IDF is preparing to deploy additional forces in southern Lebanon and expand its buffer zone in order to push the Hezbollah threat farther from the border.

Last week, the military deployed troops deeper into southern Lebanon beyond the five positions it already held, saying the move is intended to "establish a forward defense that will create an additional security layer for the residents of the north."

Military officials say Hezbollah, significantly weakened after the fighting in 2024, no longer poses an existential threat to the State of Israel. They say its weapons arsenal has been degraded by about 90 percent compared to before the war.

❗️ UNIFIL reports fire from non-state armed groups: UNIFIL says its forces came under fire on three separate occasions while conducting patrols around their bases.

"The presence of weapons outside state control in the UNIFIL area of operations is a violation of Security Council Resolution 1701," the statement added, likely indicating the attacks were carried out by Hezbollah.

🔶 Israel and Lebanon expected to begin talks: Israel and Lebanon will begin holding talks in the coming days, according to Reuters citing two Israeli officials.

〽️ Rafah Crossing to reopen Wednesday

The Rafah Crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt will reopen for the movement of Palestinians in both directions on Wednesday after it was closed at the start of the war with Iran, according to Israel's Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories.

COGAT says the decision followed a fresh assessment and "an examination of the conditions enabling the resumption of operations at the crossing, while maintaining the necessary security restrictions in light of the security situation and the threats in the area."
