🇮🇱 GOVERNMENT ORDERS JUDEA AND SAMARIA SECURITY AND SETTLEMENT MEASURES AS IDF AND SHIN BET EXPAND TEL OPERATIONS

🕑 Published: July 26, 2026 · 2:30 PM Israel time

🇮🇱 GOVERNMENT ORDERS BROAD RESPONSE TO TERROR ATTACKS: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz instructed the IDF to demolish the Tel terrorist’s home and intensify operations in villages identified as terrorist centers, including weapons seizures, revocation of work permits and additional measures.

The IDF was also ordered to reinforce forces across Judea and Samaria, separate traffic routes, establish additional checkpoints, accelerate the legalization of existing outposts and advance new ones.

Netanyahu and Katz offered condolences to the family of Master Sgt. (res.) Benayahu Melt, wished the wounded a full recovery and expressed support for security forces and residents. They emphasized that forces must operate freely and with full force, while urging the public to avoid actions that could disrupt operations or divert troops from protecting Israeli civilians and defeating terrorism.

🛰️ SHIN BET EXPANDS INTELLIGENCE AND OFFENSIVE OPERATIONS: Israel Security Agency Director David Zini held a situational assessment at the attack scene with Shin Bet and IDF commanders. He ordered intensified intelligence-gathering and counterterrorism operations in surrounding villages, alongside expanded offensive action against terrorist infrastructure.

Zini said the Shin Bet and IDF were investigating the attack and would deepen operational measures as required. “In recent months, we have foiled dozens of attacks, almost every night. This time, we were unable to prevent it in advance.”

He pledged to reach everyone involved in the attack or planning to harm Israelis, extended condolences to the families and wished the injured a speedy recovery. Zini also urged the public not to take the law into their own hands and to trust the IDF and Shin Bet.

❌ TERRORISTS’ HOMES MAPPED AND SHOOTER’S HOME SEALED: IDF and Shin Bet forces operating under the Samaria Regional Brigade conducted counterterrorism operations over the past 24 hours in Tel, where the terrorists involved in Friday’s shooting attack had lived.

The attack killed Maj. Yuval Ezra, 27, and Master Sgt. (res.) Benayahu Melt, 32. The terrorist who carried out the shooting was eliminated immediately afterward by IDF troops in Tel.

Forces mapped his home in preparation for temporary sealing and demolition. They also mapped the home of the terrorist who seized the weapon during the attack. That terrorist was wounded during the incident and later arrested by Duvdevan Unit soldiers during an operation at a hospital in Shechem.

Both homes were mapped as part of preparations for temporary sealing, which can serve as a preliminary step toward demolition. Decisions regarding sealing are made according to security recommendations through an orderly process that includes the required approvals.

The shooter’s home was subsequently sealed after Central Command Commander Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth signed the relevant order. The IDF said security forces intend to continue advancing the process of demolishing the home.

Under Israeli policy, the homes of Palestinians accused of carrying out deadly terrorist attacks may be demolished. Temporary sealing can serve as an interim measure or, in some cases, a replacement for demolition.

The demolition process can take several months because families may appeal to the High Court and security forces may wait for an operationally suitable time to enter the relevant Palestinian city or neighborhood.
