📌 U.S.-IRAN CEASEFIRE FRAMEWORK REMAINS UNFINALIZED AS CENTCOM CONTINUES STRAIT OF HORMUZ ENFORCEMENT OPERATIONS AMID COMPETING CLAIMS OVER SANCTIONS, SHIPPING, AND CONTROL
🚫 At the same time, Iranian, Israeli, and Gulf sources said no finalized agreement has been approved.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry stated: “Reports and claims regarding a possible agreement are merely speculation, and nothing has been finalized. Iran has not yet reached a final conclusion regarding an agreement”.
An Iranian military official said they were not aware of any U.S.-Iran agreement approved by Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
Israeli and Gulf sources speaking to Israeli Channel 13 also said they were not aware of any agreement reached with Iran.
Axios reported that Qatari and Iranian negotiators believed they had reached an agreed text that the U.S. would also accept.
According to the report, gaps were narrowed on three key issues:
• Mechanisms for releasing Iran’s frozen assets
• Arrangements for reopening the Strait of Hormuz during a proposed 60-day ceasefire
• The framework for negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program during the ceasefire period
Sources cited by Axios said Iranian officials told several countries that talks in Tehran produced an agreement in principle, but final approval from Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei was still required.
A source close to the Iranian negotiating team told Fars News Agency: “No text has been approved for the initial memorandum of understanding with the US”.
Fars News Agency also reported that because the U.S. accepted Iran’s proposed text, “the likelihood of the agreement being approved by Iran's highest decision-making authorities is relatively high”.
📃 Iran’s semi-official Mehr News reported that the proposed memorandum of understanding includes U.S. commitments to lift sanctions, withdraw forces from around Iran, lift the naval blockade, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, remove oil sanctions, and release frozen Iranian funds.
Mehr also reported: “The U.S. is required to present a plan to rebuild Iran's economy, with additional negotiations between the sides on nuclear and economic issues, without discussing Iran's missile program”.
The report said the draft memorandum still requires approval at senior leadership levels.
CENTCOM stated that the Strait of Hormuz remains open.
🔱 CENTCOM announced that U.S. forces disabled another commercial vessel accused of violating the blockade on Iranian oil exports.
According to CENTCOM, U.S. forces targeted the Guinea-Bissau flagged M/T Jalveer in the Gulf of Oman after the vessel allegedly attempted to transport Iranian oil and ignored repeated instructions from U.S. forces.
CENTCOM said a U.S. aircraft fired two Hellfire missiles into the ship’s engine room.
The U.S. military said this was the third commercial ship disabled this week.
CENTCOM says the Strait of Hormuz is still open.
⚓ Iran’s Strait of Hormuz Management Authority announced that the strait will remain closed until further notice due to tensions caused by American forces.
The authority instructed vessels with transit permits to await further guidance.
Trump later said a secret U.S. military mission launched last month had escorted more than 100 million barrels of oil and over 200 commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump: “The UNITED STATES of AMERICA CONTROLS the Strait of Hormuz — NOT Iran.”
