⚠️ U.S.-BROKERED ISRAEL-LEBANON TALKS ADVANCE CEASEFIRE FRAMEWORK, LAF CONTROL SOUTH OF LITANI, AND HIZBOLLAH DISARMAMENT EFFORTS
🔸 The United States convened a fourth high-level trilateral meeting between Israeli and Lebanese representatives on June 2-3, 2026.
Israel and Lebanon agreed to implement a ceasefire contingent on a complete cessation of Hizbollah fire and the evacuation of all Hizbollah operatives from the South Litani Sector.
🔹 The sides agreed to advance pilot zones in which the Lebanese Armed Forces would take exclusive control of territory, excluding all non-state actors.
The delegations also discussed a broader security framework aimed at ensuring the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of both Israel and Lebanon, including the dismantlement of non-state armed groups and preventing their re-emergence.
🔹 Israel and Lebanon reaffirmed that they have no hostile intent toward one another and committed to continuing direct negotiations under U.S. mediation.
The talks are intended to build confidence, resolve outstanding issues, and work toward a comprehensive agreement. The parties agreed to reconvene the political and security tracks during the week of June 22.
🔹 All parties condemned Iran’s attacks on countries in the region and its ongoing destabilizing activity, including support for proxies.
The United States reiterated support for both governments exercising sovereignty and emphasized that any ceasefire agreement must be reached directly between Israel and Lebanon under U.S. mediation, not through any separate track.
🔹 The United States also underscored its intent to support the Lebanese Armed Forces.
The stated goal is to improve LAF capacity and enable the effective exercise of sovereignty throughout Lebanese territory. Secretary Rubio’s June 2 statement was also emphasized: “Hizbollah is not just an enemy of Israel and an enemy of America, but that it is an enemy of Lebanon.”
🔹 Israel reiterated that its security and territorial integrity require the disarmament of Hizbollah and the dismantlement of its infrastructure throughout Lebanon.
Lebanon reaffirmed the need for mutual respect of internationally recognized borders, full implementation of the cessation of hostilities, and the strengthening of the Lebanese Armed Forces with U.S. support.
❗️ Following the announcement, sirens warning of hostile aircraft infiltration sounded in Arab al-Aramshe and Kfar Yuval.
In Kfar Yuval, a suspicious aerial target was identified before the incident concluded. No injuries were reported.
❌ The IDF says it is investigating Hizbollah’s use of first-person view (FPV) drones with apparent night-vision capabilities.
The terror group recently published footage appearing to show FPV drones equipped with thermal cameras. Two IDF soldiers were killed this week in nighttime explosive drone attacks.
The IDF says the drone threat is “a dynamic and evolving threat, characterized by inexpensive, readily available tools with a high rate of variability.”
The military says trends including night-vision drone capabilities are known and being studied. It added that review processes, countermeasures, and operational methods are being implemented in line with lessons from the field and ongoing operational assessments.
