⚓ Oman says Strait of Hormuz may not return to pre-war conditions

Bloomberg reports that Omani officials have told European counterparts the Strait of Hormuz is unlikely to return to its pre-war operating status.

According to the report, ships may in the future be required to pay transit fees, reflecting preparations to potentially comply with Iranian demands that tolls, taxes, or other fees be paid to transit the strategic waterway.

Iranian Press TV reports that a direct communication line has been established between the United States and Iran in the Strait of Hormuz under the final statement from the Switzerland talks.

According to the report, the mechanism is intended to help prevent maritime incidents from triggering a broader military escalation.
