💥 SYRIA: REPORTS POINT TO SHELLING NEAR BEIT JINN, NOT A CONFIRMED DAMASCUS AIRSTRIKE: Initial reporting of an Israeli strike near Damascus appears to have referred instead to artillery shelling near Beit Jinn in the western Damascus countryside.
Syrian state news agency SANA said Israeli forces fired two shells at Tal Bat al-Warda, both of which landed in agricultural areas without causing casualties. Israel did not immediately confirm the incident.
The reported shelling follows Israel's recent strike on the Abu al-Duhur airbase and comes after Israeli and Syrian officials held U.S.-mediated talks in Jordan aimed at easing tensions and reviving negotiations over a security arrangement.
🏦 U.S. TREASURY MOVES AGAINST IRAN-LINKED BANKING ACTIVITY: The U.S. Treasury has proposed sanctioning Banque Misr UAE, the Emirati branch of one of Egypt's largest banks, and cutting it off from the U.S. financial system.
The Treasury accuses the branch of assisting Iranian sanctions evasion and facilitating funding for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and Iran's Defense Ministry.
🇺🇸 TRUMP ADMINISTRATION PLANS TO END PESHMERGA MILITARY AID: The Trump administration plans to end U.S. military assistance to the Kurdistan Regional Government's Peshmerga forces when the current agreement expires on September 30, according to the BBC.
🛡️ SHIN BET CONFIRMS THREAT TO YAIR NETANYAHU: For the first time, the Shin Bet confirmed that Yair Netanyahu had faced a significant threat and said this was the reason for his urgent evacuation.
🇮🇱 RIGHT-WING MERGER DISPUTES SHARPEN POLITICAL FRICTION: National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir publicly challenged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over reports of advanced merger talks between Bezalel Smotrich and Moshe Feiglin, accusing Netanyahu and Smotrich of using calls for right-wing unity with him as leverage in the negotiations.
