🛡️ LEBANON AND SYRIA SECURITY DEVELOPMENTS: An IDF reserve soldier was lightly injured yesterday in an operational accident in southern Lebanon. He was evacuated for medical treatment, and his family was notified.
The Lebanese Army said it seized a shipment of 122mm Grad rockets smuggled from Syria into Lebanon in a pickup truck. Two Lebanese citizens accused of participating in the smuggling network were arrested.
Al Arabiya reported that the Syrian Army declared an unexplained state of military alert. Forces were placed on Alert Level C, units were deployed to the Syrian-Iraqi border and all military personnel were ordered to report immediately to their units.
🔸 PEACE COUNCIL LINKS FURTHER GAZA WITHDRAWAL TO DISARMAMENT: The Peace Council stated: “Israel and the Peace Council share the same ultimate objective for Gaza: the complete disarmament of the Strip and the transition to civilian governance.”
“The IDF’s full withdrawal to beyond the Green Line will take place only after the disarmament process has been completed. This applies to small arms, heavy weapons, and tunnels alike.”
The word “full” was subsequently removed. Under the revised formulation, any Israeli withdrawal beyond the Yellow Line would take place only after Gaza’s demilitarization.
Channel 11 reported: “The Israeli Chief of Staff issued instructions to restrict offensive operations in the Gaza Strip. The decision came after the Gaza Peace Council announced that Israel must stop assassination operations. The army says the decision was made based on directives from the political level.”
Targeted killings that do not address an immediate threat now reportedly require the Chief of Staff’s personal approval. After a 24-hour pause, the IDF resumed strikes in Gaza.
Religious Zionism ministers Bezalel Smotrich and Orit Strock demanded that Prime Minister Netanyahu revoke the cabinet decision approving an international force for Gaza following publication of the Peace Council map. They argued that the decision had been based on incorrect information.
The Peace Council’s CEO told Netanyahu: “Stop the strikes in Gaza, as you committed to in the agreement.”
A political official said Israel would not withdraw from its current positions in Gaza and would continue acting against threats to Israeli civilians and soldiers.
Senior officials in Jerusalem stated: “We will not withdraw under any circumstances before Hamas is disarmed. This was not agreed to in the original Trump framework, and it will not happen.”
🇮🇱 DEFENSE EXPORT REFORM ADVANCES: The Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee approved the first stage of a Defense Ministry reform intended to significantly expand Israeli defense exports while shortening and digitizing licensing procedures.
The initial measures include reducing processing times for registration in the Exporters Registry.
