🚧 Judea and Samaria restrictions and E1 dispute: Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered a “general closure” on Judea and Samaria following an IDF recommendation amid heightened tensions. Palestinian workers will be barred from entering communities during Sukkot, while essential workers may enter industrial zones under IDF Central Command security guidelines. Further exceptions may be granted to meet the state’s commitments to the High Court of Justice. Last year’s figures showed approximately 9,000 Palestinians held permits to work in settlements or nearby industrial zones.
The mayor of Ma’ale Adumim petitioned the High Court against the Attorney General’s directive to postpone the E1 tender until after the elections. He argued that the policy decision preceded the elections by many months and that halting it now constituted political interference.
🗳️ Israeli politics and pre-October 7 assessments: A Kan 11 poll placed the two blocs at 52 seats each, reporting a one-seat gain for Netanyahu and a one-seat loss for Eisenkot. Contrary to Eisenkot’s remarks, Yair Golan said an Arab party could participate in government, later clarifying that this was his own position rather than that of the bloc’s leaders.
Former Defense Minister Gallant told Army Radio that a Hamas message conveyed through the Shin Bet before October 7 warned that Sinwar would “shake the prisons.” Gallant said the Shin Bet and Military Intelligence assessed that the warning was connected to the abduction of Elizabeth Tsurkov.
