๐ Judea and Samaria: Israeli security forces conducted dozens of counterterrorism operations, arresting approximately 70 wanted suspects, including individuals suspected of planning attacks, Hamas affiliates, weapons traffickers, and suspects involved in stone and Molotov cocktail attacks.
Forces seized explosives-making materials, ammunition, a pistol, a grenade, a Carlo submachine gun, and an M16 rifle. The IDF said the operations are intended to prevent weapons smuggling and strengthen security along Israel's eastern and western borders.
A reported kidnapping of an armed IDF servicewoman in the Gush Etzion area was determined to be a false alarm after police intercepted the vehicle near Beitar Illit and found the soldier unharmed. The preliminary investigation found the soldier and the Palestinian driver are a couple. The case was transferred to the Military Police, the soldier's weapon was confiscated, and both individuals were taken for questioning.
โฐ๏ธ Syria: Several Israeli civilians attempted overnight to cross from the Mount Hermon area into Syria before being detained by IDF troops and transferred to Israel Police.
The military said similar incidents have occurred in recent days and warned that unauthorized crossings are criminal offenses that endanger civilians, interfere with military operations, and divert operational resources. Separately, President Trump formally notified Congress of his intention to remove Syria from the U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism, initiating the required 45-day congressional review period.
๐ญ Defense and Regional Security: Israel's Defense Ministry inaugurated a new production line in the country's eastern region to manufacture components for systems installed on the Eitan armored personnel carrier. The initiative forms part of a broader strategy to expand Israel's defense industrial base while supporting employment, governance, settlement, and economic development in the region.
Greek Defense Minister Nikos Dendias said Greece will work to prevent the sale of F-35 fighter aircraft to Turkey. Prime Minister Netanyahu reiterated that preserving Israel's air superiority remains a central pillar of the country's national security and regional stability.
โ๏ธ Civil and Travel Updates: The IDF announced that Route 10 along the Egyptian border will reopen Thursdays through Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. through August 29 between Bar-Lev Lookout and the 10/12 checkpoint, except on July 16 and July 23 when access will be limited to Friday and Saturday. Visitors must present identification and register at the entrance, while live-fire training areas and restricted military zones elsewhere will remain closed.
Arkia will resume direct flights between Israel and Marrakesh on August 24 after a three-year suspension. The route will operate twice weekly using Airbus A320 aircraft, with one-way fares starting at $329. Israeli passport holders will require a visa to enter Morocco.
