🤝 REGIONAL ALLIANCES: U.S. Ambassador to the UN Mike Waltz said Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan and possibly Egypt are working to form a defensive alliance to counter Iran. Israeli Agriculture Minister Avi Dichter called the emerging grouping “a very, very problematic Sunni alliance for the State of Israel,” citing Pakistan’s nuclear capability and arguing that the development strengthens Israel’s need for an alliance with a global superpower on the scale of the United States.

✈️ SYRIA: The IDF is monitoring efforts to rebuild the Syrian Air Force, including pilot recruitment and training and its first fighter jet exercise in northern Syria, according to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority. Israel is also concerned about the growing Turkish presence and its potential effect on Israeli freedom of air operations over Syria.
☢️ IRAN’S NUCLEAR PROGRAM: Former Mossad chief Yossi Cohen said Mossad had toured the Fordow nuclear site many times to understand the facility, describing its bombing by the United States as “the fulfillment of all my dreams.” Cohen added that uranium enriched to 60% remains far from a bomb.
💥 IRAN-U.S. DAMAGE: Iranian attacks have caused approximately $13 billion in damage to the United States since the start of “Operation Epic Fury,” according to The Wall Street Journal. More than 2,000 missile and drone strikes have targeted U.S. bases, damaging 20 facilities across eight countries and damaging or destroying 42 U.S. aircraft.
⚓ STRAIT OF HORMUZ: Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz fell to six vessels on Monday from a 10-day average of roughly 11 amid fading hopes for an Iran-U.S. peace agreement, Reuters reported, citing Kpler data. Four commodity vessels entered the waterway, including two empty oil-product tankers, while two vessels exited carrying liquefied petroleum gas and residual fuels.
🚫 U.S. BLOCKADE ENFORCEMENT: CENTCOM said U.S. forces stopped the Panama-flagged M/V Vela Nova as it attempted to sail toward an Iranian port through the Gulf of Oman in violation of the U.S. blockade. After repeated warnings were ignored, a U.S. Navy MH-60 helicopter fired two Hellfire missiles into the vessel’s engine room. CENTCOM said that as of August 11 it had redirected 55 commercial vessels attempting to breach the blockade, disabled three non-compliant vessels and boarded two.
