๐ค Channel 12 reported that the Israeli Navy recently prevented an attempted infiltration into Eilat's hotel district involving a jet ski launched from Jordan approximately two weeks earlier.
โ Israeli forces fired at the vessel, causing it to retreat toward Jordan. According to the IDF's assessment, the jet ski was likely remotely operated and may have been intended to test local defensive systems.
๐ฎ In response, Israeli Navy Commander Maj. Gen. Eyal Harel ordered heightened readiness around Eilat during the peak tourism season.
๐ฑ The U.S. dollar traded near โช3 for the first time in almost three months.
๐ The shekel weakened against the dollar amid support for the U.S. currency linked to expectations surrounding a possible Iran-U.S. agreement and concerns related to Israel's challenges in Lebanon. The euro also strengthened during the period.
๐๏ธ Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett stated that Area C would ultimately become part of Israel while Areas A and B would remain under Palestinian autonomy.
๐๏ธ Bennett said legal Israeli construction on state land in Area C should be encouraged, while construction outside legal frameworks or on privately owned Palestinian land should not be permitted. He argued that private property rights must be respected regardless of ownership.
โ๏ธ Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich strongly criticized Bennett's position, claiming it reflected support for the eventual establishment of a Palestinian state. Smotrich argued that a future government involving Bennett and Gadi Eisenkot would advance such a process while dismantling agricultural farms and newer communities.
๐ Binyamin Regional Council head and Yesha Council chairman Israel Gantz also rejected Bennett's remarks. Gantz argued that the Palestinian Authority already possesses significant armed capabilities and warned that transferring additional strategic territory after the October 7 massacre would ignore current security realities.
