🕊️ LEBANON TALKS INCLUDE DETAINEE RELEASE AND EFFORTS TO RECOVER JEWISH COMMUNITY LEADERS: Israel decided to release five Lebanese civilians detained in areas under IDF control in southern Lebanon after authorities determined they were not members of terrorist organizations, had not participated in terrorism and had no justification for continued detention. The release was described as a diplomatic gesture amid ongoing negotiations.
Prime Minister Netanyahu also instructed authorities to advance efforts to locate and return the bodies of leaders of Lebanon’s Jewish community abducted and murdered by terrorist organizations in the mid-1980s. The PMO said Netanyahu has worked on the issue since his tenure as Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations and that Israel and Lebanon have conducted numerous efforts in recent months, including operations on the ground. The PMO linked the detainee release to those efforts and the broader negotiations.
✈️ IDF STRIKES SOUTHERN LEBANON: The Israeli Air Force carried out airstrikes on al-Mansouri and Ali al-Taher.
🎯 COUNTERTERRORISM OPERATIONS TARGET CELLS AND WEAPONS INFRASTRUCTURE: In the Qabatiya area, IDF troops guided by Shin Bet intelligence apprehended five members of a terrorist cell planning an attack against Israeli civilians and security forces. All five were detained within ten minutes of troops reaching the suspected locations, and searches uncovered a concealed M16 rifle and additional military equipment.
In Shechem and surrounding areas, the IDF and Shin Bet completed a 48-hour brigade-level operation in which troops dismantled more than 30 machines used for weapons production, seized firearms, handguns and ammunition, searched hundreds of sites, questioned dozens of suspects and apprehended more than 10 wanted individuals.
🪨 AL-MUGHAYYIR INCIDENT UNDER IDF REVIEW: IDF troops secured the entry of Israeli police and a civilian into Al-Mughayyir to facilitate the return of livestock identified through distinguishing marks as belonging to Israeli civilians. During the activity, terrorists hurled cinder blocks and stones at the forces. Troops fired at key instigators to remove the threat, with hits identified. The circumstances leading to the incident and its management are under review.
⚖️ FIRST ARREST IN QUSRA ATTACK INVESTIGATION: A 19-year-old Israeli from a settlement in northern Judea and Samaria was arrested following a joint Israel Police-Shin Bet investigation into Saturday’s violent attack on Qusra. He is the first suspect arrested in the case and was taken for questioning ahead of a remand hearing. During the incident, dozens of Israeli settlers entered the Palestinian village, took over a home while a family remained inside and attacked residents, including by throwing stones.
