🚔 Judea and Samaria: Jalud violence and infiltration notice: More than 100 Israeli rioters prevented security forces from returning the displaced Palestinian Tubasi family to its home in Jalud, according to the military. The family had left in July following repeated settler harassment and violence. The IDF said rioters blocked roads, burned tires, hurled rocks at security forces and set fire to Palestinian homes, vehicles and other property. Three Border Police officers were lightly injured, and a security forces vehicle was damaged.
Forces used riot dispersal means and detained two Israeli settlers, aged 15 and 17. Police later arrested an 18-year-old Jerusalem resident after officers inspected a suspicious vehicle containing balaclavas, a club and findings apparently linked to him. Two Israeli-owned vehicles were seized. Police, forensic and Shin Bet investigators were preparing to enter Jalud under IDF protection to collect evidence and testimony.
The security establishment warned that the violence undermined stability and hindered defensive and counterterrorism activity. Netanyahu condemned the riots and attacks on security forces, said the rioters did not represent the law-abiding settler community, expressed support for IDF and Border Police personnel and called for prosecution “to the fullest extent of the law.”
A separate terrorist infiltration alarm was activated at the Maggan Tzedek settlement at 3:33 AM Tuesday. At 4:39 AM, authorities announced that the incident at Magnez Farm had ended, without further details.
⚖️ Legal proceedings: Abu Shehadeh candidacy and Golan protection petition: The Attorney General and State Attorney urged the Supreme Court to uphold Sami Abu Shehadeh’s disqualification from running for the Knesset. They argued that his October 8, 2023 article supported Hamas’s armed struggle while the October 7 attack was still ongoing, under extreme circumstances and “at a time of unparalleled gravity,” and that his conduct met the disqualification grounds in Basic Law: The Knesset.
They described his explanations concerning the article, additional evidence and his overall conduct as “disingenuous and incomplete,” saying they failed to address the central allegations. Otzma Yehudit has requested permission to submit additional evidence ahead of Thursday’s hearing.
Commentator Amit Segal accused judges, legal advisers, politicians and journalists of normalizing the presence of people he described as terrorism supporters in the Knesset. He argued that this emboldened Abu Shehadeh to publish what Segal characterized as support for the October 7 massacre while Israel faced an existential threat. Segal also questioned why the Attorney General had not opened an investigation if the article constituted support for terrorism.
In a separate case, Yair Golan petitioned the High Court of Justice, demanding that Zini provide him with security protection.
🗳️ Election preparations: Change Bloc coordinates campaign and government plans: Following a Saturday-night meeting, Change Bloc party leaders announced three joint teams to coordinate preparations for an election victory and formation of a Zionist, statesmanlike government. Their work covers voter turnout, Election Day preparations, election integrity, coordinated media activity and efforts to combat disinformation and smear campaigns.
The team drafting government guidelines and a first-100-days action plan will address equality in sharing the burden and universal conscription, a state commission of inquiry, limits on the prime minister’s tenure and advancement of a constitution for Israel.
