🇮🇱 ISRAEL VOWS TO REMAIN IN SOUTHERN LEBANON AS BERRI PUSHES NEW WITHDRAWAL FRAMEWORK AND IRAN THREATENS HORMUZ
🇮🇱 NETANYAHU: ISRAEL WILL REMAIN AS LONG AS NECESSARY: A senior official speaking on behalf of Prime Minister Netanyahu said Israel will remain in southern Lebanon “for as long as necessary to defend its northern border.”
The statement said Netanyahu instructed the IDF to respond forcefully to Hezbollah attacks and remove threats against Israeli forces.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the IDF struck approximately 300 terrorist targets and eliminated around 100 terrorists in response to Hezbollah attacks over the past two days.
The official warned: “If Hezbollah attacks us again, we will strike it forcefully once more.”
🔸 LEBANESE POLITICAL DISPUTE OVER WITHDRAWAL FRAMEWORK: Reports indicate Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri is seeking a separate framework focused on securing an Israeli withdrawal timetable without linking it to Hezbollah’s obligations under existing understandings.
According to the reports, Berri told Lebanese President Joseph Aoun that he will only support an arrangement containing a clear Israeli withdrawal schedule.
Israeli observers argue this could bypass the milestone-based framework already reached between the Lebanese government and Israel, which was intended to require action from both Israel and Hezbollah before further steps are implemented.
Some Israeli critics also warn that Berri’s position reflects a deeper internal Lebanese power struggle, particularly given his ties to Hezbollah’s political orbit and Iran’s influence in Lebanon.
⚓ IRAN THREATENS HORMUZ AND U.S. TALKS: Iran has again claimed it has closed the Strait of Hormuz and has threatened the future of ongoing talks with the United States.
At the same time, Iranian officials reportedly continue diplomatic engagement and have dispatched a delegation to Switzerland despite the public threats regarding the negotiations.
🛡️ HOME FRONT GUIDELINES UNCHANGED: Following a security assessment, the Home Front Command announced that current defensive guidelines remain unchanged and will stay in effect until Sunday, June 21, 2026, at 8:00 PM.
