🇮🇱 ISRAELI AND U.S. AIR FORCE CHIEFS DISCUSS REGIONAL SITUATION AND LESSONS FROM JOINT CAMPAIGN: IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir met Sunday with U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Kenneth Wilsbach and Israeli Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Omer Tishler.
The commanders discussed the regional situation assessment, advancing lessons learned from the joint campaign and areas for future cooperation. According to the IDF, the visit reflects the importance of the strategic relationship between Israel and the United States and the close cooperation between the two countries.
🇮🇱 ISRAELI RESCUE DELEGATION RETURNS FROM COLOMBIA AFTER 12-DAY MISSION: Israel’s “Alliance of Brothers” delegation returned from Colombia after completing 12 days of rescue operations following the 7.4-magnitude earthquake that struck the country.
The approximately 80-member delegation, led by the Home Front Command in cooperation with the Defense and Foreign Ministries, included rescuers, engineers and specialists from regular and reserve service. It left Israel on August 13 and worked alongside Colombian authorities, local rescue forces and international organizations at several major destruction sites in Cali.
During the operation, 29 missing persons were located and rescued in cooperation with local forces. Upon completion of the mission, no additional missing persons remained in the city.
Home Front Command chief Maj. Gen. Shai Kelper said: “I met a delegation gifted with a sense of mission and endless motivation to save lives, reach the trapped and missing and bring them back to their loved ones, for a proper burial. Today, we can say - there are no missing people left in the city of Cali. We will continue to assist wherever needed, to stand ready for any mission and to lend a hand to any country that requests it, along with abiding by our alertness and readiness for any scenario that may confront our country.”
Home Front Command engineers also worked with local professionals to map and classify damaged structures and develop a situational picture to assist reconstruction. The delegation transferred professional knowledge and tools to local authorities before returning to Israel aboard an Israeli Air Force aircraft.
Expedition commander Brig. Gen. (res.) Yossi Pinto said: “The willingness to leave everything in an instant, to cross the world, to stand at the front and say: We are here, ready for any mission — this is the Israeli spirit of the delegation. I thank the members of the delegation for their dedication, professionalism, determination and perseverance. And when the call comes again, we will prepare the rescue package anew and say as one - here we are.”
