⚛️ Reports in U.S. and Lebanese media indicated that Iran’s latest response to Washington did not meet core American demands regarding the dismantling of Tehran’s nuclear program and long-term control over enriched uranium. According to The Wall Street Journal, Iran proposed diluting part of its enriched uranium stockpile and transferring some material to a third country other than the United States, while demanding that the material be returned if negotiations collapse or if Washington later withdraws from an agreement.
🧪 Tehran reportedly agreed to suspend uranium enrichment for a limited period shorter than 20 years, but refused to dismantle its nuclear facilities. The response also focused heavily on demands for an end to the war in Iran and Lebanon, the lifting of sanctions, and a gradual reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
🚢 An Iranian army spokesperson warned that any renewed attack on Iran would result in “new weapons, war methods, and battlefields.” The spokesperson also stated that Iranian light submarines are operating in the Strait of Hormuz “in line with threats and needs.”
🇺🇸 President Trump accused Iran of using prolonged delays and manipulation in negotiations with the United States and the international community over the past four decades. He sharply criticized the Obama administration’s Iran policy, arguing it strengthened Tehran economically and strategically while weakening traditional American allies in the region, particularly Israel. Trump also referenced the transfer of billions of dollars to Iran, including the widely reported $1.7 billion cash settlement delivered during the Obama administration, and accused Tehran of supporting proxy attacks against Americans and suppressing domestic unrest.
📉 Senior Iran analyst Dror Balazada reported increasing economic strain inside Iran’s oil sector. According to the report, some oil industry workers are considering leaving the country as pressure deepens. The report also stated that Iran is relying on decades-old tankers for oil storage, with some allegedly leaking oil into the sea, while officials fear shutting down pumping operations could damage infrastructure.
🛡️ Israel’s Home Front Command announced that current defensive guidelines remain unchanged following a situational assessment. The directives will remain in effect until Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at 20:00.
💥 The IDF continued operations throughout southern Lebanon, striking more than 20 Hezbollah terror infrastructure sites, including weapon storage facilities, headquarters, and military structures used by Hezbollah operatives. Over the past week, Israeli forces struck approximately 70 terror targets and eliminated more than 30 terrorists as operations continued to remove threats to northern Israeli communities.
🚀 The Israeli Air Force also intercepted several rockets and suspicious aerial targets near areas where IDF troops are operating in southern Lebanon. In multiple incidents near northern Israeli communities, including Zar’it and Shomera, interceptor launches triggered sirens due to concerns over falling debris. No IDF injuries were reported.
🤝 Another round of Israel-Lebanon talks is scheduled for this week and will include military representatives from both sides. According to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority, Head of the IDF Strategy Directorate Amichai Levin will represent Israel, while Lebanese military attaché in Washington Oliver Hakmeh will represent Lebanon.
