🇮🇱 ISRAEL TO HOLD NATIONWIDE EARTHQUAKE PREPAREDNESS WEEK: Israel's National Emergency Authority will hold its annual National Emergency Week from June 28 through July 2, focusing this year on preparedness for a major earthquake scenario.
The initiative is part of a national effort following Defense Minister Israel Katz's designation of 2026-2027 as Israel's "critical years of preparedness" for a major earthquake.
The week will include war games, situation assessments, and professional planning sessions involving government ministries, emergency and rescue services, local authorities, and other organizations.
The exercises are intended to improve interagency coordination, assess existing capabilities, strengthen Israel's response to a large-scale disaster, and prepare for the full-scale national earthquake exercise planned for 2027.
🚁 PRESIDENT HERZOG'S HELICOPTER LANDS SAFELY AFTER BIRD STRIKE: An Israeli Air Force helicopter carrying President Isaac Herzog made a precautionary landing after striking birds during a routine flight.
The helicopter was transporting Herzog from a memorial ceremony at Mount Herzl in Jerusalem to a shiva in northern Israel when it struck birds and landed safely at Palmachim Airbase.
No injuries or damage were reported.
Herzog and the flight crew transferred to another helicopter and continued the scheduled flight. The aircraft was transferred to Israeli Air Force technical personnel for inspection and maintenance in order to return it to operational service as soon as possible.
The incident is under review.
🇮🇱 IDF CHIEF: EVERY COMBAT SOLDIER AND COMMANDER IS NEEDED: IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said the military needs "every male and female combat soldier and every male and female commander" amid public controversy surrounding a pilot program integrating women into armored units.
"The challenge facing the IDF is to find a balance between accommodating diverse populations and preserving a shared and unified framework that enables it to carry out its missions effectively," Zamir said.
"We will strengthen cohesion through what unites rather than what divides us, this too is part of the IDF's ability to achieve victory."
🇨🇴 COLOMBIA'S PRESIDENT-ELECT PLEDGES STRONGER TIES WITH ISRAEL: Colombian President-elect Abelardo de la Espriella pledged to strengthen relations with Israel, stating: "Colombia will restore and strengthen its relationship with the State of Israel like never before. Israel can count on Colombia as a loyal friend and steadfast ally. May God bless our two nations."

Emergency preparedness within Israel is unfortunately neglected. 2 years ago my daughter had friends who were stuck within the claptrap seminary that had the fire. A bystander Arab mensch broke down a wall to free them from the flames. The fire department didn't show and an individual entity was trying unsuccessfully to cut the burglar bars on the windows from the street to free the girls.
Much Chelmian dystopia but that is to be expected with incessant variations on crisis by the minute.
