🛡️ ISRAEL PREPARES EXPANDED LEBANON STRIKES INCLUDING BEIRUT AS HEZBOLLAH DRONE ATTACKS CONTINUE AND JERUSALEM PUSHES FOR FULL OPERATIONAL FREEDOM
🌍 Israeli political and security leaders are deliberating major changes to Israel’s operational posture in Lebanon following continued Hezbollah drone attacks targeting IDF forces and civilian areas in northern Israel. Discussions are increasingly focused on expanding Israel’s operational freedom, including broader strikes against Hezbollah infrastructure and force-build-up activity throughout Lebanon.
🎯 IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir reportedly requested an urgent security discussion regarding strikes in Beirut after Hezbollah drone attacks. According to Israeli media reports, Zamir argued that Israel does not currently have full operational independence in Lebanon due to U.S. restrictions and called for cabinet authorization for stronger action.
🇺🇸 Israeli officials are simultaneously seeking broader operational flexibility through discussions with Washington. Security sources stated Israel is demanding the ability to strike Hezbollah weapons convoys, conduct targeted eliminations, and disrupt force-build-up efforts across Lebanon. Israeli officials were reportedly encouraged by statements from Secretary of State Marco Rubio affirming Israel’s right to self-defense.
⚔️ Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced expanded military action against Hezbollah, stating that Israel would intensify strikes and continue operations against the organization. Netanyahu said more than 600 Hezbollah operatives had been eliminated in recent weeks and confirmed that dedicated efforts are underway to address the growing FPV drone threat.
🏛️ Tomorrow’s security cabinet discussions are expected to focus heavily on Lebanon amid increasing pressure from ministers and senior military officials for significantly stronger military action, including possible strikes in Beirut. According to Israeli media reports, Israeli leadership increasingly believes the current framework is unsustainable, particularly amid ongoing negotiations involving Iran.
🧭 Israeli officials also emphasized that Israel’s operational freedom would continue despite Iranian demands to halt fighting involving regional proxy groups. An Israeli source told i24NEWS that Washington understands Tehran is attempting to use the broader agreement framework to constrain Israeli military activity.
📢 A senior U.S. official told Al Jazeera that Hezbollah ignored repeated requests to halt attacks on Israel, including recent warnings, and said Israel would now respond accordingly. The official added that Hezbollah violated the ceasefire earlier this year and continues obstructing Lebanon’s recovery and reconstruction efforts.
🔥 Following continued Hezbollah attacks, President Trump reportedly approved expanded Israeli military operations throughout Lebanon. Israel has reportedly finalized plans for Operation “Arrows of Fire,” which would include strikes in Beirut.
🚁 Hezbollah launched multiple drones toward IDF forces and Israeli territory throughout the day. UAV impacts and drone falls were identified near Metula, Shomera, southern Lebanon, and additional border areas. No injuries were reported.
📡 The IDF stated that several suspicious aerial targets were identified following infiltration alerts in northern Israel, including near Metula, Hanita, Shomera, Shlomi, and Rosh HaNikra. In several incidents, contact with the targets was lost before interception or impact confirmation.
🛰️ According to an initial IDF inquiry, the UAV that fell earlier near Metula was launched by Hezbollah but was not an explosive drone as initially suspected. Two additional UAVs were reportedly involved in the same incident, including one that fell near the border and another near areas where IDF troops are operating in southern Lebanon.
