🛡️ GAZA BORDER COMMUNITIES EXPAND LOCAL DEFENSE TRAINING: The IDF’s “Magen 48” program is training defense platoons in all 67 Gaza border communities. Each platoon completes eight exercises covering live fire, combat inside communities, tactical medicine and complex emergency scenarios, culminating in drills integrating local defense teams, command centers, Gaza Division forces and other responders. A technological system measures performance and identifies training gaps. The program is intended to improve communities’ ability to operate independently until IDF forces arrive and then integrate with them under a common operational doctrine. It is named in memory of 48 community defense fighters and security coordinators killed on October 7 and later in the war.
🪖 PLANNED NAHARIYA EXERCISE: The IDF will conduct a pre-planned military exercise Thursday morning in the Nahariya area as part of its 2026 training program. Increased security-force movement is expected, and the military stressed that the activity does not indicate a security incident.
🇸🇾 ISRAEL DRAWS LINE AGAINST TURKISH MILITARY EXPANSION IN SYRIA: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would not tolerate Turkish forces advancing farther south in Syria in a way that threatens Israel. His comments followed an Israeli Air Force strike on the Abu al-Duhur airbase, where Israel says Turkey had planned to deploy forces. Netanyahu said Israel had previously communicated its opposition, adding: “We will not tolerate a Turkish military entrenchment that advances southward, because it threatens us.”
Four days before the strike, Mossad chief Gofman spoke by phone with the Syrian foreign minister regarding Turkey’s military presence, according to Reuters. President Trump told Channel 12 that he knew the details of the Israeli attack but would not discuss them. An Israeli military source separately told Channel 13 that Israel does not seek “an open war with Turkey,” noting the number of other active fronts.
🎯 ZAMIR DESCRIBES SOUTHERN SYRIA AS A “FORWARD DEFENSE” BUFFER: Zamir said Israel’s military presence in southern Syria provides a buffer in front of Israeli communities while the IDF monitors changes across the Syrian front. He warned that the multi-front environment requires readiness for escalation in any arena and said Israel would not permit hostile forces to establish themselves along its borders or develop either terrorist infrastructure or a significant military threat there.
