๐ฎ๐ฑ ISRAEL CONSIDERS AID TO VENEZUELA AS EL AL SUSPENDS MOSCOW FLIGHTS
๐ฎ๐ฑ ISRAEL CONSIDERING HUMANITARIAN AID TO VENEZUELA: Following the devastating 7.5-magnitude earthquake in Venezuela, the Israeli Foreign Ministry is conducting a situational assessment on the possibility of dispatching an Israeli humanitarian aid delegation.
Officials are coordinating with relevant agencies to determine what assistance can be provided, including the potential deployment of search-and-rescue and medical teams. Although Israel and Venezuela have not maintained diplomatic relations since 2009, Israel has a longstanding policy of providing humanitarian assistance based on need rather than political relations. Israeli teams and humanitarian organizations have responded to major disasters worldwide, including in Haiti, Nepal, Tรผrkiye, Morocco, Brazil, and other countries.
Several Israeli humanitarian organizations, including IsraAid, Natan, SmartAID, and ZAKA, are also assessing possible deployments. Logistical challenges remain, as Israeli citizens generally face restrictions entering Venezuela following the severing of diplomatic ties. Israel is also monitoring the welfare of Venezuela's small Jewish community. Initial reports indicate there are no known casualties among community members.
โ๏ธ EL AL SUSPENDS MOSCOW FLIGHTS: El Al has suspended flights between Israel and Moscow for the coming days following a security assessment, citing recent developments in the Russia-Ukraine war.
The airline will reassess the situation next week before deciding whether to resume service. The move follows an increase in Ukrainian long-range drone attacks inside Russia, including around the Moscow region, which have led Russian authorities to temporarily suspend operations at several airports while air defense systems responded.
This is not the first suspension of the route. El Al halted Moscow flights in late 2024 after an Azerbaijan Airlines passenger jet was likely struck by Russian air-defense fire during a response to a Ukrainian drone attack, highlighting the risks to civilian aviation in active conflict zones. Flights resumed in May 2025 following a comprehensive safety review.
The current suspension appears to be a precautionary safety measure reflecting elevated risks of operating in airspace where air defense systems are actively engaged, rather than a specific threat directed at Israel or El Al.
