🌍 Iran negotiations and regional diplomacy: President Trump told Axios he expects U.S. negotiators to hold further talks with Iran this week. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqhchi outlined a seven-day proposal involving U.S. actions that he said could be completed in four or five days, reopening the Strait of Hormuz on day six and resuming negotiations on a final agreement on day seven. Despite hearing that Trump had rejected the proposal, Araqhchi said Iran was awaiting an official response through mediators and argued that rejection without reason would be Washington’s fault.
Asked about resuming strikes against Iran, Trump said: “I am always thinking about it”. The Iranian military said a U.S. attack was possible because, in its assessment, Washington’s regional situation was deteriorating. Armed Forces Spokesman Abolfazl Shekarchi accused Trump and Netanyahu of responsibility for the assassination of “the late revolutionary leader and the children of Minab” and vowed to bring them to justice, saying timing was not the issue.
Channel 12 reported that Prime Minister Netanyahu was due to travel to the UAE to meet President Mohamed bin Zayed, with the Iranian threat central to the meeting.
🇬🇧 Arrests near RAF Fairford: British police arrested several men under the Explosives Act following a major incident near RAF Fairford, which hosts U.S. Air Force aircraft and has supported U.S. bomber deployments since the Iran conflict began on February 28. Homes in nearby Whelford were evacuated while Army bomb disposal teams examined vehicles. Police said the incident appeared contained.
British security sources told The Telegraph that counter-terrorism police were investigating whether Iran was behind the alleged bomb plot targeting the base. Trump credited cooperation with British authorities, said the suspects had been under investigation for a long time and claimed they intended to do “big damage to our fort”.
⚖️ Diplomatic disputes: Sa’ar decided that Dutch diplomats operating in Ramallah must return their Israeli-issued diplomatic credentials after the Netherlands brought into force a decree banning imports from Judea and Samaria, East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights. He said Israel would not ignore measures intended to harm it and warned that countries taking hostile, unilateral action would lose regional influence and relevance.
According to i24 News, Netanyahu instructed an interministerial team and legal officials to prepare an ICC case against Turkish President Erdogan concerning Turkey’s treatment of its Kurdish population and allegations of government financial support for Hamas. Neither country is a party to the Rome Statute, and Israeli officials are considering proceeding through a third country. Sources cited by i24 said Israel primarily views the potential proceedings as leverage and does not necessarily intend to file the case.
Channel 14 criticized the Saudi delegation’s walkout during Netanyahu’s UN speech, claiming Saudi Arabia spends “24/7 begging Israel for help with the Houthis” while its delegation walked out.
