⚠️ IRAN REJECTS CEASEFIRE EXTENSION AND SIGNALS MILITARY RESPONSE
⚠️ IRAN DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE CEASEFIRE EXTENSION: Iranian state television reported that Tehran does not recognize the extension of the ceasefire and may or may not adhere to it, depending on its national interests.
Iranian television, quoting the spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters, said: "Our readiness is complete and our finger is on the trigger in light of America's threats."
An advisor to Iran’s Parliament Speaker said: "Trump's ceasefire extension means nothing. The losing side cannot dictate terms. The continuation of the siege is no different from bombardment and must be met with a military response. Moreover, Trump's ceasefire extension is certainly a ploy to buy time for a surprise strike. The time for Iran to take the initiative has come."
Reuters also reported that an advisor to Iran’s parliament speaker said U.S. President Donald Trump's ceasefire extension is a "ploy to buy time" for a surprise strike.
⌛ MEDIATORS ARE STILL WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM KHAMENEI: A regional source and an Israeli official told Axios that one reason for President Trump’s decision is that U.S. and Pakistani mediators have been waiting for Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei to respond to the latest proposal.
According to Axios, Khamenei is expected to give his response on Wednesday, and Iranian negotiators said they are still waiting for a green light from the Supreme Leader.
Axios also noted a discrepancy in its own reporting: 20 hours earlier it reported that Iran had already received the green light from Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei, but it now says that approval is still pending.
