🛰️ IRAN: UNDERGROUND SITE ACTIVITY AND MISSILE PRODUCTION: The International Atomic Energy Agency has detected new activity at Iran’s heavily fortified Pickaxe Mountain site, also known as Mount Kolang Gaz La, but has no evidence yet establishing what is happening inside the underground complex, Bloomberg reported.
IAEA chief Rafael Grossi said inspectors have not been granted access and are relying on satellite imagery and other remote sensing.
Separately, The Wall Street Journal reported that Iran is resuming limited underground ballistic missile production, assembling weapons from stockpiled components after U.S.-Israeli strikes damaged production facilities and a naval blockade restricted fuel imports. Production remains far below prewar levels, but Iran retains a usable missile arsenal and is constructing additional underground facilities to protect weapons production from future attacks.
⚠️ NETANYAHU’S NUCLEAR PLEDGE AND KATZ’S WARNING TO IRAN: Speaking at the Western Wall ahead of Rosh Hashanah, Netanyahu said:
“President Trump announced this evening that Iran is trying once again to arm itself with nuclear weapons. That is correct. After we destroyed its immediate ability to produce nuclear bombs, both in Operation Rising Lion and in Operation Lion’s Roar, they are trying again. Katz has repeatedly warned publicly that Iran could decide to act against Israel. He said:
“Any attack against Israel, for any reason and from any location, will be met with a powerful response that will inflict severe damage on Iran on a scale it has not experienced to date, including strikes on key energy facilities. Such a war would set Iran back decades”.
⚓ U.S.–IRAN MARITIME CLASHES AND REPORTS OF BASE DAMAGE: U.S. Central Command forces reportedly destroyed five Iranian crude oil tankers on September 8 after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps targeted a U.S. Navy warship with ballistic missiles twice over two days. The warship reportedly evaded both attacks and continued patrols in territorial waters, with no U.S. personnel injured. The account did not specify whose territorial waters.
The IRGC Navy separately announced that it targeted a U.S.-operated Saildrone, an unmanned surface vessel used for maritime surveillance and reconnaissance, near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz.
According to The Epoch Times, acting U.S. Navy Secretary Hung Cao confirmed that Iran “blew the hell out of” Naval Support Activity Bahrain, the home base of the U.S. Fifth Fleet, in strikes that began on February 28. Damage to the headquarters, barracks and other infrastructure was estimated at more than $400 million. The report said the base was not expected to be usable “anytime soon,” with operations continuing from ships and Diego Garcia.
Separately, President Trump denied reports that Iranian missiles damaged U.S. military aircraft at a base in Jordan. “None whatsoever. No damage. No nothing,” he said.
