🧭 IRAN NEGOTIATIONS, ISRAELI SECURITY FRONTS AND INTERNAL OPERATIONS
🕑 Published: August 12, 2026 · 6:18 PM Israel time
🇺🇸 PRESIDENT TRUMP: President Trump said he followed Secret Service instructions when his travel arrangements from Turkey were changed because the aircraft he had been expected to use faced greater risk. Separately, after Iran sought compensation for wartime damage, Trump said he was instructing U.S. representatives to demand compensation from Iran in future negotiations. He cited Americans killed or wounded in Iranian-linked conflicts and roadside bombings, families of those killed on the USS Cole, Iranian protesters, and deaths and damage in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Gaza.
🛡️ LEBANON: An interceptor was mistakenly launched overnight toward a target later identified as IDF fire from operations inside the Security Zone in southern Lebanon. No injuries were reported, no sirens were activated in accordance with protocol, and the incident is under review.
🪦 ISRAEL-LEBANON CONTACTS: Israel has offered to release Lebanese prisoners in exchange for the transfer of remains from Jewish cemeteries in Beirut and Sidon, according to Al Akhbar.
📍 GAZA YELLOW LINE: Israel has publicly acknowledged that Hamas is deliberately encouraging Gazans to approach the Yellow Line, where Israeli forces are positioned.
🏘️ QUSRA: Senior IDF and Border Police commanders toured Qusra and nearby outposts and met the Palestinian family living there, which told them the house has electricity and water infrastructure. In nearby Area B, where a closed military zone order is in effect, Border Police evacuated a tent used by Israeli civilians and were working to remove those remaining in the area. Commanders expressed grave concern over actions against the family and ordered additional measures, while disciplinary action is also planned against security personnel documented at the site several days earlier.
🚜 NORTHERN JUDEA AND SAMARIA: The Civil Administration began demolishing 26 illegal Arab structures in the Ganim and Kadim area ahead of renewed Israeli settlement there. The operation is being carried out under Minister Bezalel Smotrich’s direction.
🚧 TE’ENIM CROSSING: The Ministry of Defense Crossings Authority will conduct a security exercise at the Te’enim Crossing from 9:30 PM Wednesday until 4:00 AM Thursday. Route 557 will close intermittently, and gunfire and explosions will be heard as part of the exercise.
🕯️ FALLEN SOLDIER IDENTIFIED AFTER NEARLY 78 YEARS: The IDF has identified the burial place of Shlomo Haimson, whose grave had remained unknown for almost 78 years, as Grave 11, Row 2 in the Cyprus Detainees section of a Haifa cemetery. Haimson, born in Romania in 1930, was deported by the British to Cyprus while attempting to immigrate after World War II and was shot and killed by camp guards while attempting to escape on September 29-30, 1948.
His remains were among 163 transferred from Cyprus to Israel in 1970, around 120 of them unidentified, and reburied in Haifa. An IDF investigation launched in 2023 examined international archives, testimony, historical photographs and archaeological surveys before identifying the grave. Haimson’s daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Rio de Janeiro have been informed and are expected to attend a military-state ceremony in Israel where a memorial marker bearing his name will be added to the grave.
