🪖 IDF SOLDIER STAFF SGT. OFRI YAFE KILLED IN FRIENDLY FIRE INCIDENT IN KHAN YUNIS; ISRAEL APPROVES RAMADAN PRAYER PERMITS FOR 10,000 JUDEA AND SAMARIA PALESTINIANS
🪖 FALLEN SOLDIER SOUTHERN GAZA: The IDF cleared for publication that Staff Sergeant Ofri Yafe, 21, from HaYogev, a fighter in the Paratroopers Brigade’s reconnaissance unit, was killed in battle in southern Gaza.
Preliminary details indicate he was killed overnight in a friendly fire incident in the Khan Yunis area during a routine Paratroopers Brigade operation in the “yellow line” zone for building searches and clearance.
Around 2:00 AM, one Paratroopers force mistakenly identified another as enemy forces and opened fire, critically wounding Yafe.
A medical evacuation team was dispatched, and he was declared dead during evacuation before reaching hospital.
The IDF said the circumstances of the gunfire by other forces are under investigation.
Yafe is the 925th Israeli soldier killed in the war.
🔹 RAMADAN PRAYER PERMITS TEMPLE MOUNT: Israel will grant permits to 10,000 Palestinians from Judea and Samaria to enter Jerusalem for Friday prayers at the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound during Ramadan, the Defense Ministry’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) announced.
Mirroring last year’s criteria, permits will be limited to men aged 55 and older, women aged 50 and older, and children aged 12 and under accompanied by a first-degree relative.
COGAT said Israel’s political echelon accepted the defense establishment’s recommendation following a security assessment to allow worship access while maintaining security stability.
All permits require prior security approval, and residents returning to Judea and Samaria after prayers must undergo digital documentation at crossings.
