❌ HOLIDAY SHOOTING ATTACK THWARTED: IDF soldiers, acting on intelligence from the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), apprehended terrorist Abd al-Rahman in Hebron on Saturday. According to the military, he planned to “carry out a shooting attack against Israeli civilians in the immediate timeframe” during Rosh Hashanah. IDF forces continue counterterrorism operations throughout Judea and Samaria.
🛡️ TE’ENIM CROSSING EXERCISE: The Defense Ministry’s Crossings Authority will conduct a security exercise tomorrow, September 15, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Route 557 will close intermittently, and gunfire and explosions will be heard during the exercise.
⚠️ KATZ VOWS TO PREVENT HEZBOLLAH’S RETURN TO ALI TAHER RIDGE: Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that “anyone who approaches the Ali Taher Ridge will be destroyed,” following last week’s demolition of Hezbollah tunnels beneath the hill.
The IDF withdrew troops from the hill on Thursday to demolish the underground facility. Afterward, the military said it would “reorganize” its deployment while maintaining control through surveillance and firepower.
“The IDF is operationally preparing to control the ridge and prevent any attempt by Hezbollah or any other party to return and establish itself there,” Katz said. He said the ridge remains within Israel’s southern Lebanon buffer zone and that the IDF “will not withdraw or redeploy until Hezbollah is disarmed throughout Lebanon.”
🇮🇱 DEFENSE FUNDING DISPUTE: According to Yair Lapid’s office, Netanyahu asked during a security briefing to reopen the budget law to allocate additional funding to the defense establishment. The head of the IDF Planning Directorate and the head of the National Security Council also attended.
Former Prime Minister Lapid responded: “I support the proposal and the transfer of funds because the IDF needs to be strengthened, but the source of the funding cannot be higher taxes on the middle class and military reservists, which is where you are heading. Instead, include in the proposal the cancellation of the corrupt coalition funds and the tens of billions of shekels you are currently transferring to fund ultra-Orthodox draft evasion—and we will support the proposal in the Knesset as well.”
