❌ IDF ELIMINATED HEZBOLLAH SOUTHERN FRONT COMMANDER YOUSSEF ISMAIL HASHEM IN BEIRUT; ISRAEL SIGNALS INTENT TO INTENSIFY OPERATIONS AGAINST HEZBOLLAH AFTER IRAN WAR
🎯 ELIMINATION OF HEZBOLLAH SOUTHERN FRONT COMMANDER: The IDF confirmed that Hajj Youssef Ismail Hashem, Hezbollah’s Southern Front commander, was eliminated in a precise Israeli Navy strike in Beirut on March 31, 2026.
The operation was carried out with Intelligence Directorate and Northern Command guidance against a senior figure responsible for directing attacks on Israeli civilians and IDF forces in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli army stated: “We eliminated in Beirut Youssef Ismail Hashem, commander of Hezbollah’s southern front. His killing is a major blow to the group’s ability to carry out plans against us.”
Hashem led Hezbollah’s Southern Front, the unit responsible for rocket launches, aerial attacks, and cross-border terror activity against Israel.
He also played a central role in rebuilding Hezbollah’s operational capabilities and overseeing sustained attacks on Israeli territory.
A veteran commander with more than 40 years in Hezbollah, Hashem assumed leadership of the Southern Front after the elimination of Ali Karaki during Operation Northern Arrows, alongside Hassan Nasrallah.
He previously commanded the “Nasser,” “Aziz,” and “Badr” units, which were responsible for frontline combat against IDF forces and rocket fire into Israel.
In recent years, Hashem was instrumental in advancing and coordinating thousands of planned attacks targeting Israeli civilians and military personnel.
His elimination is assessed as a significant operational setback to Hezbollah’s ability to sustain attacks and manage combat activity along the northern front.
⚠️ ISRAEL SIGNALS EXPANDED OPERATIONS AGAINST HEZBOLLAH: Israeli officials told the Financial Times that operations against Hezbollah will intensify once the war in Iran ends.
The statement points to a planned shift toward increased focus on the northern front after current operations conclude.
🔹 IDF CASUALTY UPDATE FROM LEBANON GROUND OPERATIONS: The IDF said 309 officers and soldiers have been injured since the start of ground operations in southern Lebanon.
Twenty-three of them are in critical condition.
❗️ IRAN PRAISES HEZBOLLAH LEADERSHIP: Iranian leader Mojtaba Khamenei published a written statement praising Hezbollah and the organization’s leader, Naeem Qassem.
The statement reflects continued Iranian backing for Hezbollah leadership during the fighting.

The U.S. State Department says it believes a person linked to Hezbollah Brigades militias is involved in the kidnapping of the journalist in Iraq.
