🛡️ IDF CHIEF CALLS FOR EXPANDED GROUND MANEUVER FORCES AS 38TH DIVISION FORMED, BORDER ALERT RISES NEAR EGYPT, U.S. EXITS KEY SYRIA BASE, AND ISRAEL DEBATES GAZA CONTROL
🪖 IDF Chief Of Staff: Ground Maneuver Capability Must Expand: IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir stated that lessons from the war have made it clear the IDF cannot reduce its ground maneuver capabilities.
Speaking during a ceremony marking the formation of the new 38th Division, Zamir emphasized that decisive victory requires divisions capable of maneuvering deep inside enemy territory, and said such offensive ground operations remain essential to Israel’s military doctrine.
Zamir said maneuvering divisions differ from regional defensive formations, which are primarily responsible for protecting Israel’s borders.
The newly established 38th Division is built from the Ground Forces’ training units and is designed to function as a combat formation during wartime, strengthening the IDF’s operational depth.
Looking ahead to potential multi-front conflicts, Zamir said the IDF will need to significantly expand the number of male and female combat soldiers to maintain a force size aligned with evolving regional threats.
He highlighted the critical role played by reservists throughout the war, describing them as the backbone of Israel’s defense, and said the standing army must expand to reduce prolonged strain on reserve forces and allow greater return to civilian routine between deployments.
⚠️ Second Border Incident Near Shlomit

While they are in a zone where they are permitted to be, the IDF is preparing to carry out warning fire in their direction. Reports said the IDF deployed forces including a tank and a helicopter after a group of white pickup trucks approached Israel’s border from Egypt.
