⚓ HORMUZ TRAFFIC COLLAPSES AS HOUTHI THREATS DISRUPT RED SEA SHIPPING: Only three commodity vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, with no VLCC crude or LNG tankers recorded, as U.S. forces conducted an 11th consecutive night of strikes against Iranian targets, according to Reuters.
In the Red Sea, two Asia-bound tankers carrying Saudi crude reversed course near Bab el-Mandeb following Houthi blockade threats and direct warnings to maritime companies against serving Saudi ports.
The Bahrain-based U.S. Navy Joint Information Center said the Houthis have completed preparations to attack vessels passing through the southern entrance to the Red Sea, according to CNBC. Sources close to the Houthis reportedly said missiles and drones have been deployed near the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
⚠️ SAUDI NUCLEAR AGREEMENT DRAWS ISRAELI STRATEGIC WARNINGS: Israeli officials and analysts warned that the agreement reflects a “decline in Israel’s status” because cooperation is no longer conditioned on Saudi normalization with Israel.
Former PM Naftali Bennett called it a “serious strategic blunder,” warning that it could fuel a regional nuclear arms race involving Egypt and Turkey while eliminating one of Israel’s central diplomatic levers.
Saudi Arabia seeks civilian nuclear power to meet rising cooling and AI energy demands while freeing more oil for export. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has said Riyadh would “without any doubt” pursue nuclear weapons if Iran acquires them.
🛡️ SYRIA REPORTEDLY PREPARES CONTINGENCY PLANS AGAINST HEZBOLLAH: Despite publicly denying plans to intervene in Lebanon, Syria’s security establishment is reportedly preparing for possible operations against Hezbollah if deemed necessary.
A Syrian source said there is a gap between the leadership’s public statements and activity behind the scenes. Syrian security forces have also reportedly been ordered to act against any Hezbollah presence inside Syria.
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported increased interceptions of weapons-smuggling attempts to Hezbollah through Syria and Iraq. Al-Akhbar reported that Baghdad warned Damascus that intervention in Lebanon would bring direct consequences for Syria.
Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa said he rejected a U.S. request to intervene. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Hezbollah “poses a threat to the Syrian government,” is its enemy, and is trying to undermine it.
