🔸 GENEVA TALKS END AFTER NEARLY THREE HOURS; NEXT ROUND EXPECTED WITHIN TWO WEEKS: Al Jazeera reported the American delegation left the headquarters of the U.S.–Iran talks in Geneva after nearly three hours.
The White House said progress was made but many details still need addressing. A third round is expected within the next two weeks.
A senior White House official told Axios: “Progress has been made in talks with Iran, but many details remain unresolved. The Iranians said they will return within two weeks with detailed proposals to help bridge the remaining gaps between our positions.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqhchi said: “We reached a general agreement on a set of guiding principles.” Iran said understandings were reached on several general issues and that negotiations will continue.
Oman’s foreign minister, who is responsible for the talks, said: “The negotiations concluded today with progress toward shared goals. We have made serious efforts to define several guiding principles for a final deal. Much work still lies ahead.”
🔸 WALL STREET JOURNAL: IRAN FLOATS THREE-YEAR ENRICHMENT SUSPENSION AND URANIUM TRANSFER FOR SANCTIONS RELIEF: The Wall Street Journal reported Iran floated the idea of temporarily halting enrichment on Iranian soil for three years and sending its stockpile of more than 400 kg of highly enriched uranium abroad.
The report said Iran is seeking major sanctions relief and potential U.S.–Iran joint business deals, and it raised the prospect of future U.S.–Iran trade agreements contingent on sanctions relief.
The Wall Street Journal also reported Iran refuses to consider dismantling its nuclear program. The United States is demanding a full cessation of enrichment and strict limitations on Iran’s ballistic missile program.
Iran is seeking the removal of most sanctions, including access to frozen oil revenues. Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei said: “The type and range of Iranian missiles have nothing to do with the U.S”.
♟️ CHANNEL 12: ISRAEL PREPARES FOR POSSIBILITY OF TALKS COLLAPSE: Channel 12 reported Israel is preparing for the possibility that negotiations between Iran and the United States collapse, amid assessments the talks have reached a critical point.
Former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said: “Striking Iran is not just a political decision. It's an operational one. And the conditions are coming together,”
