🎯 GAZA OPERATIONS, IRAN TALKS AND REGIONAL SECURITY

🎯 OCTOBER 7 TERRORISTS ELIMINATED IN GAZA: The IDF eliminated three senior terrorists who had recently attempted to advance attacks against Israeli civilians and troops. Islamic Jihad Nukhba commander Mahmoud Fatair infiltrated Israel on October 7, participated in holding Rom Braslavski hostage and was later documented at a November 2023 hostage handover. Hamas Nukhba commander Abdallah Adnan Taha Abu al-Tayf, who infiltrated Israel and fought IDF forces throughout the war, was eliminated in Deir al-Balah. Hamas Daraj Tuffah Battalion commander Jalal Tsubeih was eliminated in a separate Shin Bet-directed strike in Shati.
🔸 GAZA WITHDRAWAL REMAINS LINKED TO DEMILITARIZATION: The Peace Council said Gaza must transition to civilian governance and be fully disarmed of small arms, heavy weapons and tunnels before further Israeli withdrawal. After the word “full” was removed from its original statement, the revised formulation still conditioned movement beyond the Yellow Line on demilitarization.
Channel 11 reported that political-level directives led the IDF to restrict offensive operations and require the Chief of Staff’s approval for targeted killings not addressing an immediate threat. Strikes resumed after a 24-hour pause. Smotrich and Strock demanded that Netanyahu reverse approval of an international force, while Israeli officials said the IDF would remain in its current positions until Hamas is disarmed and would continue acting against threats.
⚠️ TRUMP CALLS IRAN TALKS A “LAST CHANCE”: President Trump accused Tehran of privately seeking negotiations while publicly denying direct contact. He said discussions were continuing, described the confrontation as progressing well and reiterated that Iran would not be permitted to obtain nuclear weapons.
Trump warned that Iran had one final opportunity to sign an agreement. The U.S. Secretary of State reported progress regarding the Strait of Hormuz and expressed hope for an agreement “very soon.”
Iran said it was negotiating only with Oman over safe maritime passage. Pakistani sources said no date had been set for renewed U.S.-Iran negotiations. According to The Wall Street Journal, Tehran is demanding an end to the U.S. naval blockade, relief for energy exports and recognition of its right to collect maritime fees. Bloomberg reported that Iran may permit European countries to clear mines from the strait.
⚓ TWO VESSELS STRUCK IN REGIONAL WATERS: A cargo ship was hit by an unidentified projectile northeast of Al Khasab, Oman. An Indian vessel struck by a missile near Yemen sank, although all crew members were rescued.
🛡️ LEBANON AND SYRIA HEIGHTEN SECURITY ACTIVITY: An IDF reservist was lightly injured in an operational accident in southern Lebanon and evacuated for treatment. The Lebanese Army intercepted 122mm Grad rockets being smuggled from Syria and arrested two Lebanese citizens accused of involvement.
Al Arabiya reported that the Syrian Army placed forces on Alert Level C, deployed units along the Iraqi border and ordered all personnel to return immediately to their units. No explanation for the alert was provided.
