‼️ Neve Tzuf attack and security response: Netanel Shakron, a father of six from Alei Zahav in his 30s, was killed in a shooting attack at a natural spring near Neve Tzuf, also known as Halamish, in the Binyamin area of Judea and Samaria. Police said he was inside his car when a Palestinian terrorist opened fire toward bathers. According to the IDF’s preliminary investigation, the attacker fired from a vehicle before fleeing on foot while armed. A Binyamin Regional Brigade combat tracker wounded him, and Duvdevan commandos subsequently captured him at a hospital in the Ramallah area following a joint security pursuit. Troops recovered the weapon used in the attack.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir ordered a closure, continued pursuit of anyone who assisted the terrorist, and the sealing and dismantling of his residence. The IDF said it was imposing closures on several Palestinian villages around Ramallah and preparing extensive Yom Kippur operations, including dozens of arrest raids targeting suspects, among them people believed involved in the attack. A brigade-level operation in the terrorist’s village and a raid to map his home ahead of its planned demolition were also planned.
Zamir said frontline troops had been reinforced ahead of Yom Kippur, additional forces placed on standby and heightened readiness maintained across all sectors throughout the fast. The IDF said its deployment in Judea and Samaria had reached the equivalent of 27 battalions, including special forces. The military, police, Shin Bet and Civil Administration were also set to increase their presence in Israeli communities and along main routes.
National Security Minister and Otzma Yehudit chairman Itamar Ben-Gvir demanded the attacker’s execution under legislation he said his party had passed. He asserted that this was the first case in which the law could be applied and that the death penalty was mandatory: “Execute him now.”
🛡️ Northern Judea and Samaria operations: Duvdevan fighters arrested two terrorists in Qabatiya, near Jenin, who were planning an imminent attack. In a separate incident at the site of the formerly evacuated community of Ganim, the IDF said troops eliminated a Palestinian assailant who allegedly attempted to ram soldiers. No soldiers were injured.
🎯 Gaza ceasefire incidents and strikes: An unmanned IDF engineering vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb during routine operations on the Israeli side of the “Yellow Line” in northern Gaza on Yom Kippur, according to the military. No injuries were reported. The IDF called the incident a “blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement by the Hamas terror group” and said it subsequently struck several Hamas infrastructure sites used to advance attacks against Israeli civilians and troops. Palestinian media reported Israeli strikes in Gaza City, apparently in response to the bombing.
In separate reporting, the IDF and Shin Bet said they had eliminated three Hamas terrorists: military-wing member Yahya Hamdouna; Muhammad Rafaei of the Daraj Tuffah Battalion; and Nukhba commander Basir Al-Barsh. They said Hamdouna and Rafaei had infiltrated Israel during the October 7th massacre. According to the two agencies, all three had recently advanced attacks against Israeli troops and civilians and worked to restore Hamas’ capabilities, systematically violating the ceasefire. They said the strikes were carried out to remove the threat.
