🗳️ Election committee votes to disqualify Abu Shahadeh: The Central Elections Committee voted 31–4 to disqualify Sami Abu Shahadeh. Justice Solberg, presiding as committee chairman, supported disqualification. Amit Segal reported that this was unprecedented, with previous chairmen either refraining from expressing a position or opposing disqualification.
Solberg said: “I will depart from the customary practice of presiding judges to remain neutral. I have not found an answer that can put my mind at ease, and therefore, although this is rare, I vote in favor of disqualifying Sami Abu Shehadeh. If there is a case in which the application is clear, this is that case.”
Ben-Gvir, who initiated the disqualification request, said: “I hope the Supreme Court will rise above itself.”
Yair Golan also supported Ben-Gvir’s request to disqualify Abu Shahadeh. In the statement published on Segal’s Telegram channel, Golan argued that legitimizing armed struggle or attacks on civilians crosses a red line. He also called for Ben-Gvir’s disqualification, saying the same standard should apply to both.
🔹 Golan demands security and calls for dismantling farm project: Yair Golan told Zini that unless he decides by Sunday to provide him with security, Golan will petition the High Court of Justice against him.
Golan also called for dismantling the farm project, saying that its presence on state land does not make it legal.
Separately, Amit Segal reported that Avigdor Lieberman called for bringing a foreign army into Judea and Samaria.
❌ PA security colonel reportedly detained in overnight raid: Israeli forces apprehended a senior member of the Palestinian Authority’s security services in a rare overnight arrest in Judea and Samaria. Palestinian media identified him as Majdi Amer, a colonel in the PA’s Preventive Security Service, and reported that he was detained in Kafr Qallil, south of Shechem.
Police said undercover Border Police officers raided the village and apprehended a “wanted operative in the Fatah terror group.” According to police, the suspect is suspected of advancing terrorist activities.
“The undercover forces entered the village in disguise and reached the compound where the wanted man was residing,” police said. Officers surrounded the building and used a tactic known as “pressure cooker” to force him out. The suspect eventually exited and “surrendered himself to the troops,” according to police.
❌ Cell planned kidnappings and attack against Ben-Gvir: A cell from the Shechem area that planned to kidnap IDF soldiers and carry out an attack against Ben-Gvir was reportedly exposed. It is unclear whether this case is connected to the overnight arrest.
✈️ Iranian plane lands in China as flight restrictions take effect: An Iranian commercial aircraft landed in China despite U.S. threats of sanctions, AFP reported.
Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iraq, Oman, Qatar and Turkey are reportedly restricting flights operated by Iranian airlines starting today.
