DEPLOYING ISRAEL’S NAVY SEALS (SHAYETET 13) AGAINST PTSD
In Israel Navy SEAL (Shayetet 13) training, no one finishes alone. The candidates who succeed are those who carried others forward.
Since 2018, American Friends of Israel Navy SEALs (AFINS) has been pairing trained SEAL volunteers with severely post-traumatic veterans from other IDF units - rebuilding trust and connection.
It is warrior-to-warrior care - and for more than 750 combat veterans with PTSD to-date, it works.

Named “Buddy Line” for the rope connecting two SEALs during a stealth dive at night, the program pairs post-traumatic veterans across the IDF with a SEAL “buddy.”
They meet regularly through shared, challenging activity, reconnecting first with their own potential and then progressing in their personal and professional life.
