♟️ ANALYSTS WARN TRUMP’S IRAN AGREEMENT MAY PRIORITIZE STRAIT OF HORMUZ STABILITY OVER ISRAEL’S STRATEGIC POSITION - PART 1
🔸 After hours of confusion surrounding the emerging Iran-U.S. agreement, multiple analysts are attempting to explain what may be driving President Trump’s approach toward Tehran and the broader region.
According to political analyst Shlomo Filber, the agreement appears to rest on two central principles: “The Strait of Hormuz must remain open to free navigation, and Iran must not possess nuclear weapons.”
Filber noted that President Trump has repeatedly emphasized those same two points publicly while pressuring Israel to avoid actions that could interfere with the emerging arrangement.
He argued that the roots of the agreement may trace back to President Trump’s May 13-15 visit to Beijing, where Trump reportedly sought broader trade and geopolitical understandings with China after months of economic pressure involving tariffs, supply chains, and trade restrictions.
According to the analysis, Trump arrived in Beijing hoping to negotiate from a position of strength following operations against Iran, but encountered Chinese resistance tied partly to concerns over Iranian oil supplies and broader regional instability.
Filber noted that despite limited progress, one major agreement reportedly reached during the visit was Boeing’s sale of 200 aircraft to China.
He added that the final joint statement from the talks was unusually brief and focused almost entirely on two points: keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Those same principles now appear to define the current framework with Tehran.
According to Filber, Trump may now be trying to preserve regional stability long enough to finalize broader strategic and economic understandings with China.
That may explain the pressure on Israel, the reliance on mediators such as Qatar, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, and the increased involvement of Vice President J.D. Vance.
Filber stressed that this remains analysis and not verified information.
He further argued that if the theory is correct, Trump’s main objective over the next 60 days would be ensuring Iran remains formally non-nuclear while stabilizing maritime trade routes and broader regional conditions.
He concluded that Israel’s position and the future direction of the agreement should become clearer in the coming week.
